Child Wellness
Children’s health is in crisis. Estimates from Public Health England suggest that a third of children are overweight by the time they leave primary school. This percentage is likely to increase as these children grow into adults, with untold repercussions on their overall health and susceptibility to degenerative diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. The resultant cost to the NHS is incalculable.
Introducing children to healthy, colourful foods, packed full of nutrients as well as finding their interest in exercise and movement goes a long way to preventing the development of behavioural and mental issues and weight gain as well as increasing their feeling of wellness.
The theory is straightforward, but encouraging them to do it is the magic part and I can help you with that!
I was the leading Nutritional Therapist at Clover House charity for 10 years. It was a very successful Therapy Centre for children aged 2 to 21 based in Saltford, near Bath, which used the synergy of nutrition, imagery and massage to significantly improve a wide spectrum of conditions.
I keep a relaxed and informal style during these sessions, which means that as well as designing the recommendations for the child, their families leave feeling more supported and understood. The nutritional advice is uniquely tailored to the child, all the time respecting the family dynamic, often benefiting the whole all the household (and reducing the food bills!).
